The EGT is definitely higher with the Atlas 40, but that is again, from the longer burn.

You guys are correct. Even running with the 100hp Hercules tune, peak cylinder pressures are not higher than stock. The burn is prolonged. The result is a longer period of time when the cylinders are seeing the peak pressure numbers, but not higher peaks.
The by products are higher EGT's and less of a need for the Trans to shift to maintain speed. The results there are increased loads on torque converters, clutch packs, and crankshafts/crankshaft bearings.
Just tested the Alt. 12.5 running for the first 2 min or so then bumped up to 13.75 where it held steady.
Batteries were 12.5 before starting.
These numbers look good, but you need to see what the 13.75 becomes when all accessories are turned on when the alternator is at full operating temperature.
In addition, it is always a good idea to pull the alternator and verify that it passes a bench test.

I will work on testing it this weekend. Meanwhile, I ordered an Atlas 40 FICM (exchange program) since its my daily driver.
How much was the Ford unit? If bought from Ford you could get a DC unit. And I hope its new not rebuilt. Went threw three rebuilt units from Ford even though I told them I wanted new they put on rebuilt.

The unit is a Ford Reman. They didn't give me an option for a new one, but it comes with a 2 year warranty. The Alt was $194.00, which I thought was pretty cheap and will hopefully get me by for a while. The only accessories that have been added is cab lights.

how did you get a 2yr warranty on a ford or motorcraft part? I thought all ford parts only had a 12 month warranty.
damn I didn't know that. I had some ford alt and was out of warranty by a month or so. wont buy another one got a dc power 190amp one..
I was replacing alt every 14-16 months..
Is it possible you work them hard? As in have some higher electrical demands? A stocker is a 110A, the factory "upgraded" one is 140A, which I personally find is about the least one can get away with (Ford made the 140A std. in '08)....
