Ok guys I just bought an 02 crew cab 4x4 with auto tranny a few months ago. So far I have put the 6637 filter in it and put gauges in it, so here is my question...When the truck shifts into overdrive it sounds like it has a boost leak, but the boost numbers are running at 6-10 psi. It doesnt do it until it shifts to overdrive and is more noticable when I am pulling a trailer. Is this normal??
What does a boost leak sound like? If it's just the sucking, vacuum cleaner type sound, then it's just the 6637 talking to you.
If you're a death row diesel guy, have one of them ride with you and take a listen. Cody and those guys have plenty of experience. Travis even has a super duty now.
If you're talking 6-10 psi at wot... You have a problem. Though boost leaks are usually not auditable because everything else is so loud going on under the hood.
Stock tuned you should be around 15-17 depending on who you ask... Some will say 17-19, I only seen 15 with the factory turbo.
It almost sounds like the waste gate is dumping the boost off as I am running down the road in OD, can get 20psi at WOT but when pulling the trailer and it shifts into OD cant get much over 10-12 psi.......Thinking I might have a waste gate problem. Havent had a chance to have Cody ride with me yet.
