We recently had a Tx gully washer that dropped a coupla' inches in a hurry. The next day when I went to start the truck, the batteries were dead, reading about 2vdc. I took them out and charged them with my 3 stage charger, then took them down and got them load tested and to my surprise, they were OK. Stuck them back in and the heater blower motor started running. After a good bit of checking, I found that water had leaked in from my windshield. I had a Pilkerton windshield installed at glass drs. I love it. It's a lot thicker than the cheapie that was there, cuts down noise and is tinted, easy on the eyes. Probably the best $250 I've spent in a bit. Oh, after the water had time to dry out, the blower mtr running problem quit. Guess I lucked out there was no permanent damage.
I don't recall much about 2" of rain dropping in a hurry, or even slowly. Care to share some of that with me?
As for the glass thing, the windshield sounds like it's not sealed right. If the glass is good, they should be able to pull it, clean things up, and re-install it with new sealant.
So the entire front glass is tinted, not just the upper band? How does that do at night? Got any pictures you can share with us?
We got 1.8" one day and .2" the next. The 1.8" wasn't exactly a tx gully washer, but, it was pretty hard. The windshield I had was a cheap one that was about half the thickness of the new one and they said they were hard to get out without breaking and it had a coupla' rock stars. The tint is very light, per texas law with a band across the top. I don't know how well this shows up, but....
