This might help..My truck is an '84..351HO..aftermarket Holley.Auto/AC..The box my cable came in .....(OReilly's) ....Pioneer Automotive industries..Meridian , Ms..Part #..CA-8437...Accelerator Cable...(Made in Columbia..)..Seems there was a 21..27 and a 40 something..Mine must have been in a bind...or too short.... because the new one is much smoother..The PO used an adapter to install a 2 barrel in place of the factory 4 bbl, in a misguided attempt to improve gas mileage, I suppose..Never ceases to amaze !!!
I measured it. You are correct. Looks identical to the old one..I didn't mention that my engine has the factory 4bbl. intake and brackets..just the Holley has been changed..
I kinda remembered that you still have the cast iron intake but not the 4180 carb. But regardless of what you've done to the truck the catalog says the original cable would have been 21 1/2" long.
But, had your truck been an 80, or an 81, or anything but an HO the catalog gives at least two different part numbers and, therefore, lengths. I highlighted those discrepancies in my second post. However, I don't think it makes a huge difference. As long as the inside part of the cable is the same amount longer than the outside, meaning the "travel" or operating range is the same, then the cable will work. You may have more cable between the bracket and the firewall, but that won't make any difference.
