Driver's side power seat not working correctly. It moves fine when I am not sitting in it, but as soon as I sit in it, it doesn't want to work (the motor starts to engage, albeit weakly, then stalls). I have never worked on a seat before, so I don't even know where I should start looking to fix the problem. 2005 Ex Limited. Anyone have this problem? And is there a part I should be focused on? And how the heck do I dissassmble it? I've seen the seat's diagram, but I really can't tell by that how to take the seat apart.
So your seat wont move?
May be you should do a diet.
Ok, man, sorry.....that was a harsh intro.
I drove a BMW 750iL some years ago, and had the same problem, so
before driving to a stealership and get charged with a 4digit amount I looked myself at this problem.
Voila, there was a 1cent coin stuck into the grease and blocked the sproket.
This little coin was even bent.
What I want to say, is that you should be sure, that nothing blocked its way.
The 4 Bolts for removing the whole seat is a T55.
Another option is a weak motor (driverside = often used) or there is something coroded on the pins so there cant flow
a higher amount on voltage anymore. Just get under it and look.
Try to remove the seat but let the power harness in. So you can see the function while you operate the seat from the downside.
Maybe you just need to clean and regrease some stuff.
The other option is to take the plastic shroud off the side of the seat and the seat is held onto the track with 4 smaller bolts. Take those out and you could run the seat track while still bolted down. Generally the same idea as mentioned above, the difference is you are not having to get the T55 socket.
