Hi - new here and need some direction. Own a 2003 Excursion with power seats. Recently had some paint and body work done and want to have the drivers seat leather replaced.
The guy doing the upholstery went to remove the seat, but the back electronic switch wouldn't raise the seat so he could not remove the rear bolts.
Is there a manual way to raise the seat or what would I need to remedy this?
Do you mean all the switches work, except for the one that raises the back of the seat? That might be just be a bad switch.
When the seat won't move at all, laying the seat back all the way back somehow resets something that allows the seat to start working again. I don't know if that's built into the circuit...but I read that one time and used it when my seat wouldn't work...and it really does work! Although if it's a bona fide broken switch or something wrong with the wiring...it probably won't work, but at least worth a try.
The way I do it is remove the front bolts first, then move the seat fully forward. You then have all the room you need to remove the back two bolts. Don't have to go up or down to do it.
