Fires everywhere. Fire in Lompoc about 150 acres, called my grandparents there to see if they were one of the evacuated; they are safe.

Dad is at camp in Monterrey in a holding pattern. They are looking for a strike team leader. They have been told they are headed to a fire in the Southern California area, but until they get a ST leader, they dont know where exactly because they arent able to be assigned yet. San Diego has a few burning, and we had a small 25 acre here today, shut down the 126.

The fortress known widely as Dracula's castle is for sale.

"The forbiddingly picturesque Bran Castle, in Transylvania, is everything you'd expect of Romania's most popular tourist destination, a Middle Ages fortress associated with Vlad the Impaler and Bram Stoker's "Dracula" and therefore vampires (strigoi to locals). Turrets needle the sky, dark corridors tangle the senses, jagged stone underpinnings convey brutal impassivity. The castle dates back more than 500 years, so it's seen its share of medieval behavior -- presumably bloody and otherwise."

When I lived in France, we had some business meeting in the Carpathian Mtns (town of Sinaia) of Romania. We had a team building event at this castle - what a blast.
They had actors in period dress put on a great show and tour that eventually ended up in a local karaoke bar where I vaguely recall singing 'La Bamba'. Strange I don't recall much about the next morning, but that was a fun event at Bran Castle. Will have to dig up some of those old photos. I think it was in Feb 2004 - was snowy like these internet pics.

Those fires are a shame, lompoc is a beautiful place, just had a fire here in rancho Cucamonga about 2 weeks ago, a little rain would be nice right now, was over 100 today.

Hi Matthew, hadn't seen you around before... welcome to FTE

I think we've all had about enough of the hot for this early in the year...let's get back to the morning fog for a while.
