Help determining the year of C6

1966 F-100 Custom Cab LWB
351w power steer/brake
C6 trans

I'm hoping to figure out what year my C6 is so I can know which ATF it needs/is in it already.

The transmission appears to be a C6 (17 bolts on pan, "Mercedes" logo on right side, etc.) Any way to know the year it's from?

On the drivers side the code is: RE D7U P/006-AA. There's also a metal tag bolted on the rear bottom of the Mercedes logo (pass. side), but I'll need to clean to read it.

If more info is needed please let me know what/where to look as I'm learning. I'll add photos once I'm back at work.

Thanks. Yeah, I saw yours and didn't want to hijack. I know it's a C6, but the year has me stumped. That page in the link shows the C6 with 14 bolts, which I don't think is right. I've always heard 17.

D7UP = 1977 Econoline.

Post the codes from the ID tag, I can't make them out due to the angle of the pic.

1966/97 C6 pan has 17 bolt holes.

Excellent. Thanks Bill.

Does that mean the trans is a 1980 like the tag or 1977 like the casting on the driver's side in the photos? Maybe part both?

The dipstick says Type F ATF, but the years seem to indicate the fluid should be the Mercon. Correct?

C6: Type F ATF: 1966/76 / 1977/97: Mercon aka Dextron II
