question for number dummy

Hey ND I use to have a 72 Gran Torino with a 351 Cleveland 4V the one with 113/4 to 1 compression and a 4 speed manual trans( not sure what model)...I've always wondered if this was the original drive train, it had bucket seats and a console which all looked very original but have been told more than once that you couldn't get that engine anymore in 72 California cars, and also was wondering what Ford Dealer did you work for I see your from Southern California and use to do a lot of parts buying from Carmenita Ford.

I know this doesn't fall into 61-66 ford truck forum questions category... but does anyone know if you could still order the 113/4 to 1 compression 351/4v Cleveland engine in California in 1972? And sorry ND I thought Hacienda Heights was down south! Maybe I need to change my name to Thread Dummy!

AFAIK, there were no restrictions in CA inre to 351C's, in 1972 you could buy a Gran Torino or a Ranchero so equipped.

Carmenita Ford is located in Santa Fe Springs, which isn't that far from Hacienda Heights, but I'm originally a west sider, didn't move here until 2001.

The longtime parts manager at Carmenita was George Bissonette. I first met him in the early 1960's when he was the parts manager of Cort Fox Ford in Hollywood.

Always thought the Torino was all original but what did I know I was 18 years old when I owned it, that's one of the car's I wish I would have kept now! To bad Carmenita sold out to Rush, I was the Service Manager at the Peterbilt Dealership in San Luis Obispo for Rush and sure don't have anything good to say about them!

Carmenita is still in business. I don't recall the original name, but the Ford truck dealer in Whittier on Peck Rd. is the one that sold out to Rush.

The other Whittier Ford dealer was Board Ford. Howard Board died, Ford bought the dealership, then it became a D/D (Dealer Development) store.

CA DMV shut it down several times, the last time for good. Buildings were torn down several years ago, now it's just a big empty weed choked lot.
