there is a sliding switch in the rod where it goes through the firewall inside the cab. check your rod end if the plastic bushing is gone and has been gone for a while it can limit the travel of the rod. normally you have problems shifting before the switch doesn't move enough.
The two wires closest to the firewall on the connector, should both be red/blue, are for the starter circuit. You could disconnect the switch and put a jumper wire between those two terminals on the harness connector, and then it should start. But keep in mind, it will start in gear if you do this.
If you paid a shop to do the hydraulics, they should have reinstalled the switch properly, and evidently they didn't. You should take it back to them to fix it, as part of the original job.
I must have missed that entire post sorry bout that well I am half @$$ color blind but yes that did work as soon as work slows down and I get a change to get home I'll have the wife bring it to the shop thanks guys
