I'm having progressively more trouble getting the switch which the clutch pedal contacts to work. I have to press the pedal REALLY hard to the floor before the truck will start, well beyond the clutch engage/disengage point.
Anybody know what the mechanism for this is, and where it is, and whether it can be adjusted?
It's a 91 N/A 5 speed. Any help would be appreciated.
Look right above the accelerator pedal, you'll see the clutch master cylinder rod and the clutch switch attached to it. There is a plastic bushing that caonnect the pushrod to the pedal assy., if it is worn you wont get the travel you should.. could cause your problem.
You can jumper the plug. You will lose the safety feature of the switch though.
+1
I do this to every vehicle I own as soon as I get it home. As long as you can trust yourself to not forget and try start the truck without the clutch down (while in gear) or without putting it in neutral, its the way to go IMO.
Thanks for the replies guys, good info. I've been away from the computer for a little while, I'll try to fix the switch and if not I'll wire around it as suggested.
