Got in the truck today to head out of town and when I started it up I had ZERO POWER to the Heater control unit under the radio in the dash.
Pulled the fuses and checked all was good.
Called around no one was able to look at it until 2 weeks from last Thursday...
Decided to leave out on the road anyway. Stopped at a light waiting to make the turn to the highway and started pushing buttons in a last attempt and it powered up when I hit the last button on the bottom row towards the glove box.
Prior to this I pressed every button on the darn thing.
I would appreciate any input on this from any of the list techs. I am stumped!
Iam sorry I cant help u but in the last 3 years of owning my 2006 KR there has been 2 instances where my Temp Control Assembly (digital auto temp version) did not power up either, then it powered up normally after a key cycle both times.
Who knows why, I was just happy it turned back on

Mine has done the same thing a couple of times.usually I can turn the signal light on,or headlights on and off and it starts working again.
"My "electronic" climate control sometimes doesn't power up when I start the truck (usually in hot weather). No temp display and nothing changes when you press the buttons. Usually it would work normally if I restarted the truck. Someone suggested flipping the headlights on. Crazy as it sounds it worked. I could understand how that might affect it if it was just the display being dead but how flipping the light switch could "wake up" the button functions is baffling.
Answer,
There have been several posts explaining this behavior. I have 'only' had this happen twice in my 3+ yrs of ownership..
The power saver circuit has a non-replacable relay on the instrument cluster that sticks off. The added power draw of the headlights triggers this relay into working properly."
Rusty is this electrical or the Vaccume issue ? to the OP look under the dash passenger side the heat control vaccume line that come from the control arm under the hood, there you will see a shinny canister with the vaccume line and electrical hook up, look to see if things are ( hooked up ) and not kicked out
It was explained to me as electrical- sticking relay. I don't think the vacume would have to present for the control panel to come on. When you start the truck it's completely dead.
Mine started doing that when I first got it on the road after reassembling it from the wreck. I fixed my problem by disconnecting the batteries and leaving the headlight switch on for a hour. I never have had the problem since....maybe I got lucky?
