Hi, I have an 05 Excursion 6.0 with automatic climate control. When I turn the key to let the glow plugs warm up, the set temp shows up, followed by the outside temp of the plugs take a few seconds, then when I start the truck the display goes blank while starting and comes back on once the truck has started.
My issue is...sometimes the climate control gets no power when I turn the key on. No temp displayed, and once the truck starts there is definitely no ac. Sometimes if I shut the truck off and restart it the climate control works, other times it itakes a couple restarts. Sometimes if it doesn’t work but I just drive it will suddenly come alive.
I assume there here is a relay for it that is going bad, but so far I haven’t been able to pinpoint what relay I need to check or replace...or if there even is a relay for it. But maybe I’m just a moron. Any help is appreciated!
Same issue happens to me once in a while. Somewhere on here I found a post and they said to turn the lights on and off 3 times. I may be mistaken but they said some relays may be sticking and turning the lights on and off gets them moving and unbound.
One day I was actually able to help an older gentleman at a gas station because he had this issue and it was a mid summer day so he was sweating up a storm trying to pull fuses to see if anything was wrong. I asked what was wrong, and he described this issue to a T and I turned his headlights on 2 or 3 times and the climate control came back on. The amount of information on the forum is incredible, you just have to find it.
I’ve been checking today, and for some reason lots of threads are popping up...maybe before I entered the wrong search terms.
Seems like most think it is related to the “time delay” that allows accessories to stay on when the truck is shut off. But I don’t understand why only the auto climate control is the thing being affected.
