Hi guys
So my wife was driving our '10 escape xlt and the engine light came on and it displayed the 'check engine' message on the screen. It has 86500 miles and luckily no problems yet. The only thing that has changed was she accidentally put super premium gas in it the other day. The light came on and after she drove it home (about 10-12 miles) and it sat for a few hours and i drove it about 20 miles it randomly went off while it was idling. I shut it off and let it sit for 20 minutes and then let it idle for a few and it never came back. It has been running ok. We definitely drive it a lot as she works day shift and i work nights. I'm just trying to make sure there's nothing wrong with it. I got a bulletin a while back about the intake getting moisture in it. I didn't know if maybe this could be the beginning of this or something else. This is a whole new territory for me as i consider my 91 f250 'new'
edit The bulletin i got was actually for the throttle body. Customer Service Bulletin 13N03. I have noticed some irregularities in the idle and acceleration that seem consistent. Does the computer store historical codes at all? i was wondering if we could scan it and see what code was popping.
My escape has the capless system. I took it to autozone and they said they couldn't pull old codes but it sounded like an oxygen sensor and to bring it back it if pops again. Can a dealer pull old codes?
There is an active bulletin out on the throttle body. Our 2010 Escape went to idle while driving on the highway. Since these are "fly by wire" there isn't a throttle cable, it has an electric motor that actually opens and closes the butterfly. The throttle body had to be replaced. This recall/bulletin is for this problem and it is important to get it looked at.

Hi Alpha Lima Romeo,
Sounds like it's time to make an appointment at your dealership so they can check this out; they'll be in the best position to diagnose. Let us know what you hear from them. If you need help after your visit, just send a PM my way with your info. I'll need your full name, best daytime phone number, VIN, mileage, and servicing dealership.
