I've owned this truck for about 1 1/2 years. I've had 4 injectors replaced, and I need to replace the other 4, or hopefully I can just pull them and clean the spool valves and new O-rings. It runs pretty rough at the moment, kinda sounds like it is missing on a cylinder. It also seems to have low power, although it is much better than it was before having the first 4 replaced.
For the last couple weeks it has been having a studder when it goes to overdrive, if I'm cruising at 55. If I kick it down to 5th gear, the studder goes away, and it also goes away at higher speeds. I figured this has to do with the injectors not working correctly, which I'm hoping to fix soon. This was the only issue I've really been having until today. This afternoon on my way back from work the tranny slipped 2 or 3 times. It's never done this before. I'm hopefully going to go get fluid and an external filter and get that changed tonight.
My question is, what are the odds that this could possibly fix this? Does it sound like it could be problems stemming from the injector/low power issue? The truck has 272,000 miles on it. Is there possibly something else I can replace to fix it without having to rebuild the tranny? Hoping for the best...
First off what is your fuel press? Min. at wot no less than 45 psi. Second, what is the voltage of the ficm. Min. 45 volts. third, when was the tranny last serviced and what fluids were used. 30,000 mile intervals prescribed. You list many problems but little service info.
My question is, what are the odds that this could possibly fix this?
My guess is that fixing the engine will fix the trans issue. The golden rule of transmission repair is ALWAYS fix all engine problems before attempting any transmission repair. Often fixing the engine makes the trans problem disappear.
