Well, I did it! I bought a new F350 CC 6.0L. I read all the info on the injector problems, so I went in with my eyes wide open. Then engine has a build date of January 03.
I checked with the service tech and they found a recall on the ICP, which I understand controls the injectors.
They swear that this solves the injector problem. It is being worked on right now to replace the ICP and recalibrate the computer (the truck has about 100 miles on it now). They said that they have had no trucks back in for injector problems since they started changing out the ICP.
What are you'all's experiences with this? Will this fix the problem, or should I expect more injector problems?
The new ICP will NOT solve the injector problems, although it probably needs to be changed if your engine was built in January. We have new injectors with a C95 suffix. We'll see, in time, if that solves the problem.
When they go bad they will cause a misfire and you'll know it. Also, in all probability, they'll leak fuel into your engine oil. So if your engine oil smells like fuel or the oil level begins to rise, you have one or more bad injectors. As far as I know, Ford will not replace your injectors until they go bad one at a time.
