Yes it's a front sump truck pan!! An I figured as much with the tall valve covers I jus gotta get an older model setup or something to keep heat in my truck!! So what do I need to do? Buy all parts for 77 non-factory air? Where is best place to get the setup or can even be done?
You need the rear sump oil pan. Or a suspension lift!!! Even then, you are better off just getting the correct pan.
Easiest thing for the AC and valve cover problem is to get short valve covers. Assuming of course you don't need the tall covers for high lift cam of roller rockers.
Eliminating the AC box clears up a ton of engine space but can create it's own problems. Some have just tossed it and covered the hole with a plate. This works fine if you aren't going with the in cab heater box. The blower motor still sticks through the cab and the whole area (which would now be covered with a flat plate) was originally formed a bit. I was able to fab up a plate with the proper holes etc. but what a hassle. That and I had to be liberal with the shims (washer spacers) when mounting the in-cab box. Better off finding a cab with the factory in-cab box and cutting our a section to weld into yours. Hence it being a lot easier to use the short valve covers if "looks" is the only thing they bring to the table.
