400- 460 engine swap

400- 460 engine swap
see if i can find help in the 73-9 series. Has any one put a 460 into a 2whl drive camper special ('77). Having trouble finding the engine towers (frame mounts, perches, stands, etc.) for the swap. not really sure what to look for. i know that the 390 engines mounts have been used, using 2 bolts.
will any other towers work. have access to the 360 engine towers. the cross member is directly over the axle. it is different than all the trucks w/ 460's i looked at (crossmembers toward the front of the truck).
the camper special had a 400 in it. the towers sit on the frame and the crossmember. they seem to be closer to the firewall than the 360 towers. is there a height difference that will affect the installation.
all the salvage yards in my area cannot help me. cannot afford the landlproducts at this time. any suggestions. all the posts for the 400 to 460 is related to the 4whl drive trucks. my frame seems to be different. thanks in advance.

The same frame towers & mounts also apply to 2x4 's
The difference between the 2 & 460 from a car, is the oil pan .
The cross-member gets in the way of removing the drain bolt & oil runs down the cross-member.That's why getting the rear sump pan & oil pump is required.I had someone put a drain bolt in the front of mine.I barely have to crawl under the bumper to drain my oil.
The other thing is the power steering pump.
The 2x4 can handle the lower set of bracketry but the 4x4 can't.
Find a E-series Van and everything will be on it.
Sidenote: There has to be a couple hundred related threads in this chapter about this swap.

The 360 towers/mounts are the same you referneced for the 390, as they are from the FE engine series. You should be able to find a 2x from the late 70's running a 460 and grab the towers from it, they retro fit all the way back to 65 frames...

I apologize for the 400 to 460 questions. just saw the motor mounts i need that places the motor forward for the clearance i need. when i first enquired about the swap i went to the landle products site. all i seen was the complete conversion 460 swap kit which was out of my budget.
then when i went back to the truck i got the 460 from and seen that set up, i was starting to get worried because everything was different from my truck. when i went to the salvage yards, they had the same set up as the donor truck also. i thought i had something different because my truck was a camper special. i just want to thank everyone that replied to my questions.
this is my first motor pull and swap, so please bear w/ me. i know everyone is tired of the 400 to 460 swap questions. wish there was a manual for this swap from a-z and i could have avoided the repeated questions. once again, i apologize.
NOTE: Just wanted to add that of all the forums i searched, FTE is the most organized and w/ the most knowlegdable info. thanks.

The best & easiest thing to do is track down a 460 Truck or Van and yank everything.
All of the bracketry,engine mounts,exhaust manifolds,correct oil pan will be on it
The 2x4 is not much different than the 4x4 .
I have pics of the 3-pc motor mounts of you want to see them.
Too bad you are in Alberta here where I am.
I could have everything you need in a day
