I can't do anything inside the engine bay without a step stool. A fold able one would be nice to fit behind the seat.

A lot of repair work on these require some coolant to be drained. A collapse able container for draining and refilling would take up less room then a 5 gal. bucket.

Some of the things I carry along with all the hand tools I have used to do work on the truck.
-Duct tape
-Electrical tape
-zip ties
-permanent marker
-long pipe
-inspection mirror

I carry a 6 ton bottle jack, along with some hunks of 2x4. (The original spare tire jack is gone)

^^^^ Agree.

Even though mine isn't under warranty still, I would use this to get it to a place that I could work safely.

Hand cleaner is a must like Misky6.0 said in his list.

I have some pre wetted ones I keep in the door pocket
do to all the people that are sloppy with the fuel fill nozzles.

Speaking of smartphones, you can save files (troubleshooting guides, 6.0 bible, etc.) And view them in an areas without cell coverage..
You could also create docs on a computer and send them to your phone for safe keeping too..

I have the sg2 pids on the phone too.

I also have an app, astro file manager, lets you move and rename files on your smartphone to organize your stuff to make it easier to find.

Thanks everyone. Lots of good ideas. Will add all of these to my list. Well maybe not everything in run6.0runs video. Wow. I have the IPR socket on order but looked like that can be a pita to get to. Might put a new screen in or check it before we leave. We will be doing a 5-7,000 mile round trip depending on how tired we get of each other.Leaving northern Kentucky and doing a large loop going as far west as Arizona. Did this in 1982 with a Toyota(ahem) pickup pulling a 1960ish Nimrod camper with a couple of buddies. We have two campground directories and zero reservations so we will be staying wherever we can find a place for the night. My 19 and 14 year old daughters are really excited, and my wife and I cant wait to show them some of the country. It is a beautiful one. Hope it hasn't changed too much in 30 years.

gee wiz I've been wanting to do the same with my daughter! It's just she and I. With gas prices on the constant rise and no camper (I thought about using tents @campgrounds), that dream so far out of sight for me. Lucky for you, you get to spend some good quality time with the family. Sounds like so much fun overall, minus the minor complaining or quarrels. Good luck on the adventure and have a safe trip!

That kind of trip sounds like fun. No matter what happens, you will make great memories.

No reservations!!!!???? That's just fine. you wouldn't want to pass up seeing something because you have a reservation to get to.

Have a great trip!!!

OH, something else. Road flares.
