So, at about 8lbs of boost i get a squeeling from the turbo area. Tore turbo down, inspected , all looked fine. Screwed around for to long and said to myself " this sounds just like a blown bellows on a cummins isx" (insert light bulb here). So, can i just replace the bellows or is it attached to the whole y pipe?.
Hi josh, i can hear a faint hiss with it idling. Then once it hits 8lbs of boost or so is when it starts whistling. Boost is good, power is good to. Tore turbo diwn and it looked good. Its definitely squeeling behind the turbo.
P.S. Speaking of PM's. Josh did you get that last one I sent?
It just started yesterday. I dont think id see any yet. Just drove it almost a hundred miles squeeling like crazy. If it were a turbo i think it wouldve been turned into shrapnel. 8lbs of boost is the magic number it starts at.
I was able to put 50psi to the y pipe and got no leakage from the bellows. Thought for sure that was it. Has anyone ever had the o ring on the compressor side of the turbo that seals the housing fail?. Ive got all new gaskets for the exhaust coming, along with that o ring. Ill double check cac boots and stuff, but they looked fine.
If you have the plastic cold side CAC pipe, pull the air filter and check the corrugated section. Sound a lot like what my truck did. In the pic I'm bending it down so it flexes open, it was very hard to see with the pipe in the truck. Two splits and a small crack in the pic.
I tried that to. Sounded like it was coming from the turbo, or the general area. Tore the turbo down and it looked fine. Thats what led me to believe it was a bellows pipe. 8lbs of boost is the magical number it whistles at.
