so as i was reading the posts it hit me i forgot to send my oil request in so here i am i just orderd the kit from blackstone, i bought the truck a few months ago with 174k and its my first sample on this truck, kinda scary but its for the best right?
If i were you, get the sample kit, but dont use it yet. DO an oil change, then when your ready for another oil change (5000), then take sample of that. Who knows WHAT the PO did or neglected to do. Dont wanna have a blast to the ticker, and worry, hear on out about your investment, but then again, may be nothing to worry about, but i'd hold off on the sample though.

Thats what I did. Except I didnt do it on the first oil I put in. When I bought the truck I did an immediate oil change with regular old Motorcraft oil. Then that got to 5000 miles and I swapped in Rotella T6 0w40.
deffentaly knocke on wood there, and i did get the kit first even tho i do have the hand pump and probley 5.000 feet of hose from work, i bought the truck and they had just changed the oil so they say but as soon as i bought the truck i had to haul a load of cattle 400 miles and turn around not the smartest thing to do but i found out she pulls great and once i got home i put rotella t 15-40 in it so wate for the next oil change or change oil let it hit 5k then change?
trey that told u to run 2-3k on top of ur 5k really?

yeah I'm currently running to 8k on this oil then I'm gonna get it tested again. Then to 10k and tested again, then 12k and so on. Where ever it ends is where I will set my oil change intervals.
If I get to 10k I will be happy. Thats where I want to sit. I will probably get a UOA on the next oil, but not at 5,8,10 etc, just at 8 or 10.
Once I figure out how long my motor can run on the oil I will leave it at that and only get an oil analysis once in a while to check up on things.
