Anyone have any idea what this engine is? Lady told me she thought it was a Lincoln block from like a 1960 something but im almost positive its not a a 430 long block.
Hard to tell from the picture. Best bet is to grab the casting number from the block. If you can't grab that, grab the casting number from one of the heads, that will at least tell you the block series. Does that timing cover go with that block? I ask because it reminds me of an Oldsmobile.
It's not an FE or FT. Both the FE and FT have valve covers that bridge the intake manifold, i.e. the upper valve cover rail is actually part of the intake manifold.
The 2.8, 2.9, and 4.0 Cologne engines are designed like that also.
It may be the earlier Lincoln engine or the F600+ truck engine based on the Lincoln engine. The truck version was available until, I think 1964.
The 430 Lincoln engine would have an oddball block like the 348-409 Chevrolet where the deck isn't perpendicular to the bores, with flat bottom heads (no combustion chambers in the head): The chamber was effectively in the Bore. I think the later "Super Duty" gas engines were like that too.
If the head surface is perpendicular to the bores, then early Lincoln / Ford truck. If the head surface id at an angle, then Superduty or Lincoln / Merc pass car (2 different families)
Doesn't look right for a Y block. The exhaust manifold bolts and port spacing are wrong. Is it even a Ford? With the funky green my guess is a International Harvester
