Fellow FTE user Radmacks posted this video (and there is a thread on here too) installing an aftermarket deck with the factory dvd.

Why this matters to you is that if you buy 2 of these adapters or similar and wire the power, ground and audio to the correct pins, you should have a working dvd player. You'll notice the adapter he bought in that video IS the correct one to fit the newer >2003 DVD players

Get one of these:
Amazon.com: PIE FRD03-DVD Ford "Phase-2" DVD Interface for Aftermarket Radio: Car Electronics Amazon.com: PIE FRD03-DVD Ford "Phase-2" DVD Interface for Aftermarket Radio: Car Electronics

and wire it to this:
Amazon Amazon

You should now have a 2002->2003 DVD adapter harness.

I realized after posting that that it won't matter for you because you don't have factory dvd so you don't need an adapter per se.

That said however, if you wire power and ground to the 2003 adapter you'll be able to turn on the dvd player and use wireless headphones with the IR. If you want to run audio through the head unit you WILL need to wire it up to the 2002 adapter and plug that into the back of your deck.

That is backwards the radio and DVD have females like that. I assume this is used when you have the wires in the truck to adapt the ends to usable wires for a aftermarket replacement set up

Well I'm hoping I can get a aftermarket deck depending on the cost so it is worth something
I will figure it out either way. If I could just see a factory connectors on each end or a diagram I could pin it out and run my own wires and use my own connectors

Did anyone who bought this install it in an '02 or lower? I finally decided to tackle this today and the wiring harness is slightly different (old plug on truck is 12 pin - new plug on new dvd is 20 pin. Funny enough you can fit your old 12 pin male pug into the new 20 pin plug but nothing happens.

Does anyone have a pinout diagram for both the '02 DVD and '03 DVD system? All I should really need to wire up power, ground, illum and ignition.

If anyone did this any other way, let me know too.

Ok one more thing you will need more than power ground and illum. Wires if you still want sound out the stereo, unless you plan on using the IR headphones only in that case you will only need the wires you stated

I only really care about IR headphones. I am running an aftermarket deck already. I had the original RSE system working fine but decided to swap it out with the newer one.
