What is this?

There is a white hard plastic (? maybe ceramic ?) piece bolted to the drivers side of the firewall. There's 2 wires connected to it.

What is it? Mine broke into 2 pieces and it has some sort of coiled wire in it. I am assuming its a resistor of some sort.

Thanks

Without a picture it's hard to say for sure. However, there is a ceramic resister that looks as you describe, but is usually attached to the coil not the firewall.

Gotta be for the coil? Or heater blower.. Or, was the truck modded from 6 to 12 volts? Can't be if truck is after 53, hm.

The truck is a '58 and is 12 Volt. I don't know if it was 12V stock or not.

Ignition resistor to the coil, helps the points last longer in the distributor by reducing the voltage to them.
