Resistor Coil??

A while back I posted asking if I needed an internally resisted coil. My truck is a 68 f-250 with a 78 351M motor with the electrical system (wires, distributor, etc.) out of a 68. I thought I had concluded that it did indeed need an internally resisted coil until today. I was rooting around in the dash checking some of the wiring when I spotted a pink wire that said resistor wire. I traced the pink wire to a plug at which point it was connected to the red wire w/green stripe that leads to the coil. Does this mean I should be running a non resistor coil? I would check with a voltmeter but I do not have one availiable as I am away at school.
Thanks
sorry for the long post

I don't know what a resistor coil is. My guess is that it has a resistor in it that steps down the voltage into the actual coil. If this is true then you don't need it. That fat pink wire is the resistor wire. If you measure the voltage on that red/green wire you'll see that the voltage is not 12.

There are different coils with different resistances. With some systems you need 1.5ohms or more, 3ohms or more or .8ohms. Make sure you find out because this can ruin your electric distibution system fairly quick.

You need a non-resistor coil. By one for your specific application, year, make, and model and you should be OK.
