I have a 1998 motor home (a 1997 chassis and drivetrain) that I am doing a tune up on. I ordered plugs, plug wires, distributor cap, and rotor button. Everything is good except the rotor button won't fit. Its a MSD kit # 84085 (MSD Ignition#121-84085 from jegs.com) That site and a few more list it as the one for my 460, but after taking the old cap off I found the new one is nothing like the old one, the screws are too wide. Does anyone have any experience with this? Thanks in advance.
I just received an email from a tech rep at jegs.com explaining this kit isn't for the "stock" distributor it is for a MSD distributor that fits the 460. I told him that was very confusing for it to come up when you search for 1997 Ford 460 rotor and that comes up.
I do not know why anybody would put after market ignition parts on an engine.
The stock Ford parts run as good or better than after market parts.
And they fit.
