So very true about a new vehicle.
I was thinking that maybe the PO replaced the switch
for some reason and just happened to get the auto one.

I think with all the options that Ford has that maybe the
sensor location depends on what's what. One thing you could
do is look at the back of the switch and see if all the plugs
are there. I wished I had a copy of the right diagram for you
year, But I don't yet. I may pick up one someday.

Does anyone know the part number for the Sun Load Sensor trim piece. I have the Sun Load Sensor part number 2c3z*13a018*ab but it did not come with trim piece for the sensor to mount in. I am trying to add Autolamps on my 2006 F250 Super Duty
6.0 diesel Trim XLT. I have had this truck for a little over a month. I have the bought the new headlight switch. I went with the switch for Autolamps and fog lights. I will be adding fog lights, keyless entry and DRL.
The previous truck I had, had all those items. After reading the posts here and other forums, the only one I may have a problem with is installing is the keyless entry.

Thanks for the help

Were you able to get your automatic headlights working, if so how. I have 2005 F-350 XLT 6.0 L and here is what I ran into trying to upgrade to automatic headlights. The harness for the light sensor is in the dash, so I got a sensor and a new automatic headlight capable switch but it did not work. Some say you must get a dealer to program your VSM, I contacted three different dealers and they said it cannot be done, they could only reload software that the truck originally had option/equipment wise. Also another issue for me was, my truck does not have a VSM (above hump behind radio). and cannot add one since their is no wire harness behind the dash to connect to a VSM. I also wanted to add RKE but that also is not possible. I would like hearing about your findings.

Any luck? I could have wrote exactly what you did. mine is 2006 f250 6.0 XL, no VSM. I managed to add a XLT cluster and a compass on the mirror. used Forscan to reset the cluster to have reminder bells go off and dome light to work.
