I bought a 47 1/2 ton Merc Panel truck when I was 15 years old with plans to someday restore or custom it. I'm now 55 and have been paying to store it inside for over 30years. I'm now getting to the point where I need to look at parting with it. I know how rare this truck is and was thinking that letting like-minded folks who may appreciate my rusty old vehicle know by way of this site that the truck is out there they may be able to offer me some advice on where and how to get the word out that it is available. It requires a full restoration but it is over 90% there. It sits on rubber and rolls. Unfortunately the flathead was out in the field too long and was destroyed. I have a 49 ford flathead for it! I just took it outside for the first time in 35 years...it is now unforunately stored outside and probably won't last too much longer.
that to bad,you couldn,t repair it. they are a nice model! post a few pictures. not sure you can place a for sale ad here, moderators will let you know. you surely are in the right place for help. good luck!
I've seen that Mercury posted before I think ? You might consider putting an ad in the Old Autos paper published in Bothwell Ont. " A Canadian Newspaper For The Enthusiast" I've just finished the bodywork on a 1949 M-47 Mercury and was kind of thinking a '48-'50 Mercury panel would be nice. But I have a 1979 GMC Vandura waiting and a 1976 Boler trailer too. Where are you in Ontario? I'd love to see your panel sometime. Hope the Old Autos suggestion helps. Greg M-47
Yes Chris 56 f6, that is what this one could look like. The one you have pictured was restored by a guy named Ron O'Neal. Called himself the Mercury man. Restored quite a number of Mercury trucks over the years. Pretty sure this truck of 47 Merc Panel was in the Collingwood, Ontario area. There is a few pictures in his album if you click on it. LOTS of snow up there in Collingwood right now. Might have to wait for the spring melt. Greg M-47
Sorry to hear you are not going to be able to move forward with your project. Seems like an uncommon truck so maybe someone will rescue it and get it back on the road.

No...I've been waiting for all of this bloody snow to melt so if folks wanted to have a look they could actually see the whole truck. I've been getting an appraisal done and the ownership in place so I can transfer it properly if/when I sell it.
