How many in this forum has change their water pump already? Please list year, model and miles at the time water pump raplacement.
My Excursion is close to 150K miles, third owner, should I change the water pump soon?
I just want to be pro-active do the preventive maintenance since I don't drive this daily; I only drive long distance on family trips; average over 2,000 miles each time jsut don't want it to be broken down on the road far away from home.
I have changed a bunch of them. But they needed because they got their front end pushed into it.lol. I wouldnt worry about 4real. Never know you could put a new one in and it could go out before that one.IMO
On our first truck the water pump lasted 250k... that was a 2006 350 XL ...
Our Second truck still has the Original 780k ... 2006 350 Lariat... It has been off for the rebuild at 550k, so we put on a new o-ring ... Still running strong ... But we are not the normal truck owner... LOL
Mine last until 115600 miles, the shaft seal started leaking. 2007 F350 Lariat. I put in the Bullet Proof Diesel Billet Water pump.

Is there such a thing as Bullet Proof Water Pump? Or that water pump manufacture by "Bullet Proof Diesel" and doesn't mean it last forever? Is it better than OEM?

It is a Billet pump manufactured by Bullet Proof Diesel. Will it last forever? Maybe not. Considering the OEM lasted just 115600, my bet was on the billet impeller. The impeller on the one I removed was pretty beat up. The cost of $345 was not outside my budget and the OEM was $207 for the same thing that was removed. All parts have some amount of expected wear and water pumps are one of those items, my expectation is more life than what I got with OEM, so I'll pay my money and take my chances. It was worth it to me.
I would like to know if the BPD water pump can be rebuilt.
For that price I would hope that you can put new bearings
and a seal in it if and when needed.

Sean, that is a good question. I didn't even think to ask when I purchased. I'll try to find out. Customer service is gone for the weekend, I'll make a call on Monday and report back.
I installed the BPD water pump at 100k miles. The original was doing fine and still is - in someone elses truck. The BPD impellor is a fine looking piece of machining. It is performing very well. In fact everything BPD does seems to be top notch!
I have always wondered if aluminum would hold up better or worse than plastic if there was cavitation going on. I suspect the plastic would do better, but don't know. Just a slight hijack ......
Sean, got this from BPD via their Face Book site: Hey Mark!
Direct quote: "It all depends on the condition of the water pump. Technically, we can rebuild them. The net savings to the customer might not be much over buying a new one."
