Water pump lifespan
I have a 1990 XLT with 96,000 miles on the 5.8. I believe that the water pump is the original. I have always felt that the average lifespan of an original water pump is anywhere from 80k to 100k. I am going to be driving the Bronco from Florida to Colorado next week, pulling a U-Haul 5'X 8' trailer. I don't really have the time or extra money to replace the water pump before I go. My question is, how many miles have some of you gotten from your original water pumps? It's not going to help me if mine goes on the trip (knocking on wood here) but I'm just wondering...
