. Power from fat roller lobes, high lifts, high compression ratio, good engine quench spec.s, and good heads... not duration... plus, this graph is just a computer simulation of idealized expectations...
Thought I'd bump this to the top and see how its going. Should have my running as soon as I have time, probably August, just bumped the build thread too.
Good question. Got the parts in from Tim on June 6th and took them to the machine shop the next week. They thought it would be a month or so before they got the machine work done, so I may get everything back in mid-July. But, everything is moving slowly so it wouldn't surprise me for it to take longer, like some time in August.
Got the engine back from the machine shop last week, and after the 2014 Okie GTG was held at my shop last weekend I finally got started on the engine this week. Basically, today I implemented Tim's mods to the oiling system and started with my mods, as described in the 80 - 86 forum here.
Well, it must be time for an update here. Basically, in the last two years I've not gotten a lot done. But, we've added 11 pages on Dad's Engine thread in the 1980 - 86 forum in that time. Here's a link to a post on that thread at about where I picked up the engine, where this thread left off.
But, if you don't want to read those 10 pages, here are links to the highlights:
Oil System Mod's: Shows my implementation of Tim's mod's as well as some minor ones of my own.
Oil Passage Smoothing: Did a bit of smoothing on the oil filter adapter and the oil passages to let the oil flow more cleanly.
Oil Pan & Dipstick Adapter: The pan needed painted and the dipstick adapter was leaking, so in this post and another one a bit later I blasted the pan & adapter, reattached the adapter, and painted them both.
Intake Manifold: I powder coated the new intake to make sure it will be easily cleaned.
Valve Covers: I painted, sanded, and powder-coated the valve covers.
Shipped to Tim: And, then I packaged it all up and shipped it off to Tim Meyer for assembly and dyno runs. Figured that if I didn't have it together in two years I'd better farm it out.
