Yeah, i hear ya. The coil is mounted to the left of the water inlet, and it just is a mess. Do i have to leave it there or can i mount it anywhere i want? Idk if the coil wire has to be short or anthing like that. I have 2 ported vacuum switches right there too, so about 8 or so vacuum lines, lol.
The distributor housing is cracked on the bottom too, so was thinking if i was going to replace it, might as will groom two birds with one stone
Well....take the clamp off and clean it up and paint it a different color. Try color combos that work with the outside truck color, like blue-black, red-black, you can paint an intake, crinkle paint on the valve covers. Do you have a stock black or Accell yellow coil? They make a slip on chrome coil cover, semi cheesy....
Gun metal grey and black. Paint the raised lettering on the valve covers, something different. With the requirement of vacuum lines you are in a quandary there.
I seen that done a while back and it looked nice. Paint the m/s and PB booster. Paint the inner fenderwell hammer tone something....chrome swap in a new breather or black crinkle paint the breather to match the valve covers. And silver color the intake?
Be careful getting the braided color wire cover stuff, it looks like crap quickly IMO. Color differences between parts is as free as the imagination can be, just do not loose your mind...lol.
Not to sure on the "can I relocate the coil" question. Maybe fmc400 will chime in on that one for sure.
I paint most stuff with the IDGAF theme. Whatever is at hands reach when i take it off to replace something. The PS brackets ended up Black Satin, the alternator bracket is gloss black. Sheens of black and Ford blue is all i have.
Black and blue are good colors IMO, but if you are are contemplating a Proform HEI Distributor for looks you need to slow down and get a paint plan on the rest of the eng bay.
I understand the D.I.L.L.I.G.A.F theme....kind of like how I feel about a lot of things in life....
Do you have room to mount the coil between the block and power steering bolt? Set it straight up. I did that on mine before I changed to a HEI... but I don't need all the vacuum/emission junk in this state
