Transfer Case Problems
New to this Forum and looking for some usefull information....
I've got a 1998 F-150 with the 4.6L and a floor shift transfer case...
The problem is that I cant get the floor mounted shifter to engage into 4x4. Its almost like there is something stopping it from going into 4x4 and not staying in it. Fluid level in the case is good.
Anyone have any tips, advice, tricks or information?
Thanks guys!

1. Is the problem moving the selector from 2H to 4H or same problem moving to 4L?
2. Sometimes I have to back some trucks up just a bit to kind of take any load off the driveline
2. Are you a manual or automatic trans? manuals I normally am in neutral when shifting the transfer case but sometimes need to let the clutch out while in gear just a touch while pulling on the transfer stick.
1. It is almost like it is stuck in 2H, won't move past there.
2. I have tried backing up and it does nothing.
3. It is an automatic trans.
I have had the truck up on the hoist, sprayed the linkage with penetrating fluid, got a bit more movement but not enough to get it into 4H or down into neutral or 4L
here's a site that describes the adjustment of the linkage

When I first took it into the shop, I told these guys to also replace the injectors.
When the "Tech" was going over the engine showing me all the new stuff, and his work, I asked him if he replaced the injectors.
He said no, we just cleaned them up.
There were two new injectors installed from a previous guys attempt to repair the truck.
As I'm going through the bill with a fine tooth comb, I come across two separate charges.
Both for injectors.
One line says 8 injectors for $526, another says 6 injectors for $394.50???
I guess I got me a 14 cylinder engine.
Here's another...
I found a separate line charging labor for replacing the radiator.
Isn't pulling a radiator part of replacing an engine???
Once these guys are finally done, we're gonna have a real Pow-Wow before the bill gets paid.

But yeah, your experience is why I do my own work
