Inspecting an NP-273 Transfer case
Hello all,
I purchased a ZF 6-speed and NV-273 for swapping into my truck.
The ZF is getting rebuilt at my transmission guy because it had some obvious problems.
The Transfer case doesn't appear to have any problems.
If I were to try to assess the health of the transfer case, what would be the correct steps?
It is a manual shift, so I would obviously want to shift through the ranges. But what else should I do? How 'bulletproof' is this style t-case?
I figure I can also check the fluid to see if it has any metal shavings in it?
If I wanted to open it up and take a peek, what would I be looking for?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Chris
