HFCM/filter work, now no start
i got under and opened the water drain valve and we put some compressed air to the fill neck and got fuel to run out the water drain. cool. closed that and went up to the bowl and added more air to the fill neck. a few bubbles in the bowl and then we had a good flow of fuel coming up the bowl. now we're getting somewhere. so we stop putting air to it; thats when i watched the fuel in the bowl receed. that doesn't seem right. tried to cycle the fuel pump and it wouldn't bring it back up.
so having tried two of my three tricks i had up my sleeve, i went to plan C, which was the $55 gasket kit for the HFCM manifold cover. installed it, went back up top and had my buddy cycle the fuel pump, nothing. did it again, nothing. one more time, BOOM, fuel is coming out of the bowl like oil out of Jed Clampett's swamp. i think we're getting somewhere. put the bowl cover on, cycle the pump twice, crank the engine, presto, happy 6.0l
so the HFCM gasket wasnt' sealing between the chambers it seperates. it looked a little swollen when i was dealing with it Sunday, but i thought for sure it would lay in its race when i tightened the cover... apparently not.
thanks for everyone's help!!!
