Electrical Issues
Given the list below, does anyone see any common parts? The wiring harness is original. There doesn't appear to be any under-truck plugs that have been cycled. In fact, undercoating has made that difficult.
- The trailer tail lights don't work. The vehicle tail lights are fine, as are all of the other trailer lights.
- The passenger side running board lights don't work.
- The front windshield washer pump doesn't.
- The driver's side restraint is throwing a 33 code.
- The "lights are on" bell is erratic. A recent episode had the bell sound when the door was opened even though the lights were off and the key was on.
All of the under-dash and under-hood fuses and relays test good.
If I've got a bunch of things to fix, so be it. But if there's a common relay or harness to much of this, that'd be good to know before I start tearing the wiring apart.
Your trailer light issue may be caused by your trailer. If you have all lights except trailer tail lights, that's the trailer most likely. Running lights are all on the same wire.
Do you have power at the washer pump plug?
A test light or power probe can go a looong way in figuring out these three issues.
It's not the trailer. I misspoke as the trailer/running lights don't work through the Excursion connector, but they do fire when power is applied directly to the trailer.
Haven't checked the washer pump yet. Thought that I'd throw out a "are these issues connected" before digging into another one...
The other stuff might just be a loose ground somewhere, check them out.
