I've got a '72 F series truck that had a remote start switch installed, and the factory hole in the dash was simply empty. I've restored the wiring back to factory spec, and I've got a factory ignition switch and the little threaded chrome ring that's visible on the dash.
What I don't have...is whatever else goes between the switch body and the back-side of the dash, which I'm pretty sure is a spring and some kind of washer or cup...NEITHER of which is listed or shown in the LMC catalog..or anywhere else I've been able to search.
Anyone have - or know where to get - the other parts needed to mount a factory ignition switch?
Dash is sheet metal.. switch and bezel are threaded
You're right. It's not "twist and turn." And **there's something missing** The switch housing and bezel *are* threaded. The bezel fits perfectly in the hole in the dash, and the lip rests neatly over the edge of the hole. The problem is that there's nothing to take up the slack between the back of the dash and the larger-diameter part of the switch. On other vehicles I've had from this era, there's a spring and a cup - or some other part - that takes up slack, and/or pushes against the back of the dash. Bottom line: there has to be something else back there to take up the slack. The dash is only ~3/32" and it's painfully obvious from the design of the ignition switch that something else has to go back there.
Aw yes my truck was missing that stamped sheet medal cup that locks it from turning.
Ti's was held in place with a screw at the under side of the dash.
I'll be making a run to PnP Thursday and look for one if you can't find one soon?
orich
It's like torture... to see such a high-res image of the part I neeeeed! If what I receive in the mail doesn't fit... you'll be hearing from me. P.S. Many thanks for your service in the military.

One, I removed was installed upside down the screw tab facing upwards. With the tab bent straight up. So I bent it over so the mounting screw would line up at the bottom.
