Get your girlfriend to sit on it, that should level it out. Haha

I use that handle all the time. I am 6ft and cant hardly even reach the step without it. F350s are pretty tall. I do wish it was flatter though. I scratched mine with the gooseneck hitch

But now any time one of them goes in my truck they pull the step out first too. If / when I mess the pole up I'll take it off and get the inside of the gate lineX'd. But it being there doesn't annoy me that much.
It isn't that simple. If you remove the plastic cover, you will find that there is no metal access cover on the tailgate like previous models. You can remove the plastic and the mounting bracket for the pole, but you still have to purchase the access cover at a cost of $79 plus hardware or you can purchase the plastic bed liner cover used on the non-step tailgates for $219. The choice seems like an easy one to me. I don't know how Ford justifies charging more than half the price of a full bed liner for just the tailgate piece.

Good to know. Managed to actually use the stripper pole today. But the plastic tailgate cover got a beating from a very heavy welding table. If it comes to it, I'm ok with the $80 cover plate. Then I'll still proceed with LineX.
