OBDII Code P1405

My check engine light came on recently and I had the code checked. It's a P1405: DPFE Sensor Upstream Hose off or Plugged.

I think I've identified the Differential Pressure sensor, but all of the hoses seem good and clear to me.

Any ideas?

OBDII Code P1405

Hi and welcome to FTE!

If you've located the DPFE and all the hoses and stuff look OK, then you probably have a bad DPFE. They are known to fail and are easy to replace.

You did not say what truck you have or what year it is.

FWIW, here is a picture of the DPFE on my '98 4.0L Ranger:

craked house P1405

I had the same code this week. The hose on the right side was cracked. I replaced both of them. Auto Zone didn't have anything close to the size of house, but Oreilly's did. The right side house was stuck on really good. Had to take a razor blade to get off the pieces stuck on the the bottom metal port.

1998 4.0L, ranger 4x4

Just had the code come in on my 98 Ranger 4x4. While it appears the hose connector has been bad for some time, code just appeared. Hose cracked and completely disconnected. Also, from the appearance of the hose very hot gas had been through it and exited through the crack in the hardened and brittle hose. The gas melted the connector off and melted the plastic hose protector for the AC line nearby.

Since it just came in, what's it for? Truck runs great, Gas mileage may suffer slightly but could be from other reasons.

BTW, great photo of sensor and hoses.
