Sorry, I don't have any first hand info on this, mine is also an XLT with no overhead display. I get that sort of info (and more) from my Ultra-Gauge OBDII device, everything except the outside air temp.

I have had 2 of the original stand alone Ultra-gauges for about 12 years now and have used them in several different vehicles, never any issues with either one. They now offer a Bluetooth version too UltraGauge OBDII Scan tool & Information Center
I'm not sure how they compare to other bt driven apps like Torque, I've never used anything else as these do what I need and I'm cheap. In my pre-OBDII '94 Geo Metro I have an arduino based device (MPGuino) to monitor various data inputs and calculate several economy results, very geeky hypermiler stuff there.
