I am new to the IDI world. I had a 1st gen. Cummins (the Dodge portion died). I had the cummins up to 368 HP at the rear wheels. I really liked the power.
So before I go out and throw my money at performance stuff, I would like all your opinions and knowledge on what to buy so I don't have to buy twice.
I would like to have 300 sustainable HP at the rear wheels (I tow quite a bit). Can my motor take this with just a camshaft and head studs?
What options do I have for turbos? Is there any "kit" that will handle 300 HP?
What would you all recommend for injectors and injection pump?
Check out idiperformance.com. They have all that you will need to make 300HP. An idi can easily make that with enough fuel, studs, and a cam. You will need a turbo that can push enough air though.
Are you looking to do a full build or just bolt on performance mods?
Im sure he is, the whole point of the 110 pump was to be a realiable performance pump that didnt taper off. I think at 4k it falls to 100cc. Either way right at or just under 300whp. Or you can go with one of the big pumps which have a peak of around 190cc, which is what justin is running. With the 110 pump you could run a "stock" turbo with a wheel in it, but Something like a S256 or S259 would work better i think.
i wouldn't even run without an intercooler for maxing out an oem ip.what are those? only around 75cc or something? i have a feeling the EGT's would get too high and you'd have to let off it right when you wanted it the most anyway.heavy hauling/towing up hill at WOT.with a maxed out stock ip and correctly sized cooler & pipe, my truck can do anything WOT without scaring ya to death watching an EGT gauge.i really don't think it could do that with just a stock ip maxed out with no cooler.
really the intercoolers go hand in hand with the turbo if you want to actually use the power all the time without letting off, trying to downshift, watching an egt gauge like a hawk etc.it would be completely pointless (and dangerous) to put an ip on made to deliver more fuel above oem specs without an intercooler imho.i'd never do it and that's just talking the 200hp zone.

I agree. I'm hoping to get a 90cc pump and a good set of sticks for my '93 this summer. I added a 093 to it last summer so in think a 90cc pump, good sticks and hopefully an intercooler will improve it's awesomeness this summer!
