What is needed for 500 HP powerstroke?
Hey guys, just was thinking at work today.. well everyday about power strokes. What would it take to build a daily drive-able truck with around 500 hp? I would assume trans/torque convert upgrade, bigger turbo (housing), stage 2 injectors, high pressure oil pump, high pressure fuel pump, custom tune.. Would the engine handle 500 hp? Is this obtainable or reasonable for daily driving? What would the torque be?
Just thought it'd be interesting to see what everyone thinks! We can all dream (well getting paid for it like i do at work hahaha)

Cash, cash, and more cash! Deven has some good ideas to start with. The nice thing about hybrids is you can tune them down to basically stock and drive around without issues (gotta love electronic engine controls). Joe (Izzy351) dynoed at 449hp and 1016tq. The main stud girdle kits ties the main caps together to eliminate main cap walk and reduce the chance of block fractures and cracking at higher performance levels. there are a bunch of 500 HP trucks out there not using this and there still running strong..if i was going to 600..i would use it..there are trucks out there at 600 without it and they are still running strong.. doesnt mean its going to work for ever..kind of like going over the 400 mark on PMR's..some get lucky..some dont..

its too bad Joe has PMR's..he should have done better then he did..but no tuner is going to tune a PMR motor like a forged rod motor...got to love them injectors from fullforce though...mine did 436HP on a 97 with a 17 pump a D66 and beans fueling....i know im about the same as that..will be a lot better after i finish the fueling..these injectors will have a hard time to empty out because there will be plenty of fuel to reload...

As for the trans, yes you'll definitely need a strong build.
