I'm in the planning stages of a 300. I have an offy intake, headers and an uncut core to build. I'm lookin for 300 to 400 hp if possible I think it is. What are some good recipes for this engine.
IF you want that kind of hp then expect a vehicle that idles like a funny car, well close but not quite. I once had a desire to build a 300+ hp 300 and this is what I ended up with as far as a recommendation from a company that specialized in the inline motors. You would need something like a 280H cam cam from clifford which had a duration at .050 of 226 degrees and advertised 280 with a .498 lift definitely need a high stall converter or standard trans you would basically head wise 1.94/1.60 valves along with a very good port job on the heads you would need to get your compression as high as you possibley can on pump gas you would need roller rockers big block chevy rockers can be used a stud girdle and a carb of around 500/600cfm low side if you want snappy throttle response on the street high side if you want high rpm takeoffs, either would work okay more likely than not. Not to mention you want your motor to be built dead on spec wise and be balanced because you will need some decent rpm to make that hp and the old 300 isn't neccessarily used to high rpm. good luck sounds like a nice project
side note you can use 240 rods along with special order pistons or keith black pistons KB355 the rods would need to be bushed or resized depending on what year you use to make them fit. This would create a long rod setup which helps the engine rev a little quicker and build some torque as well. Think of this if a stock 300 makes roughly 130 hp and 275 TQ then you can imagine that if you are making 300 hp what kind of crazy torque that thing in theory should have. Again good luck and hope this helps
