I recently rebuilt my 2150 carb and when i put it back on and tried it
flooded the motor. so much theirs gas all over the manifold .I adjusted the float twice and its a new power valve any ideas? any help is greatly appreciated.
Sounds like you have something together slightly off. It is possible to get the hanger for the needle in wrong and that could bind the needle up. Did you turn the top of the carb upside down when you adjusted the float level?
Also, do you have a new fuel filter on it and is it installed correctly? If you have a very dirty fuel system little pieces of rust flakes, or even a little chunk of rubber fuel line can get up under the needle and hold it open.
So when you take the carb off and take the top off, look carefully at the bottom of the bowl. You just cleaned this thing up, so if you see a lot of little pieces of dirt laying in the bottom, you could have a dirt problem. Then carefully take the float and needle assembly out and take a flashlight and look down in the hole were the needle goes, and see if there is a piece of dirt or rubber laying in the bottom.
Dave (hmmm, we have a problem) - When you look down at the seat also look closely at the needle. It has a rubbery coating (Viton) that grit can stick to and that will cause it to flood.
Hmmm is right guys Ive taken out the needle valve and cleaned it and the housing put a new fuel filter on and still the same thing. I think i need a new float because just how the neadle pin and float went together seemed off.I had my wife turn the truck over and gas was coming out from the tubes on top of the carb. Thankyou for your Help
Check to see that your float actually floats. It isn't unheard of for one to sink, and that will cause the carb to flood for sure. But, some of them don't sink immediately so don't just throw it in a pan of water. Some of the brass ones opened up when they got hot, so maybe use hot water.
I finally got it running the problem was a little clip that holds the float pin down
never noticed but it kept un clipping from the retainer a simple bend with pliers and thats fixed it. Thank you For all the help Now to just tune it.
Had the identical problem on Motorcraft 2100 carburetor, only 1 week ago.
When installing the float, the U shaped wire clipped to the float pivot shaft must be pushed down behind the float pivot shaft, so it inserts into the groove on the brass seat fitting.
The wire has a small bend that keeps it engaged in the groove.
If the wire is not anchored down, the float will not be secured and the needle will fail to close, resulting in a flooded carburetor with gasoline flowing out of the two vent stacls located in the top horn cover.
The instructions with the rebuild kit fails to address this important assembly step.
This step is clearly shown on a U-Tube video by "Mikes Carb Parts" on Motorcraft 2150 carbruetors.
