I was cleaning out my shop, and found this old picture of my first Bumpside, havent owned it for 12-14 years now. Talk about cobbled together, but whoever did it had some fabrication skill......VIN and Warranty plate show the cab to be a 72 2wd f100 shortbed. The Frame, who knows but it appeared to be a 4wd F100 shortbed, and it had a Dana 21 Transfer case, and a NP435 4 spd. A swapped in integral power steering, Dana 44 front w/disk brakes, and rear Dana 60, both with 3.54 gears, 8 lug. A late 60's 428, w headers, aluminum intake, holley 750. 35" tires, and at least 6" of lift, im guessing 8".........Even with 35" tires and 3.54 gears, it moved out quickly..
It was fun to drive, and had an excellent body and cherry interior. Had i kept it, i would have liked to swap in an Np205 T-case, and some 4.10 gears
Where i was living at the time, the closest place for me to go 4 wheeling was probably 80 miles away, if not further............It wasnt a great daily driver. I was working, and commuting during peak hours, and stop and go traffic wasnt fun in it. Yeah, today with where i live, i wish i still owned it........But thems are the breaks!
coil sprung and 8 lug. yeah your kicking yourself in the azz now! stroll threw memory lane! yes we have all been their! Still its a good looking truck! thanks for showing.
I sold it to a guy in the SF Bay Area down near San Jose.........Im not sure what the color was called, but ive seen quite a few bumpsides in that color, and im pretty certain it was used on the dentsides as well, so i know its a factory color. Yeah, the coils gave it a pretty decent ride for a short, tall truck
