I've been watching and trying to keep up with all the AE threads. Learning a lot but I feel like I've missed some of the basics. If this has been posted already I apologize and if it has could someone post a link to the thread. My question is, could you guys who a verse in AE put together a list of of what sensors should be trended together to create a base line to work with. Say, sensors 1 through 8 in group one and another set in group two and etc. I think this might help people like me start to put it all together.

Thanks for the help
Brice

The basics are getting the software to work. After that, you are in the world of understanding your diesel - not so basic. I'm vague on what you're looking for, but are you referring to a collection of 9 sensor that all interact with each other... and you want to understand their relationships?

I need to dress up that behemoth that is the AE thread. One member actually started to compile it into a PDF, I wonder how far he got before it was too daunting.

I've been having a lot of fun with the convenience of Torque Pro, but AE is still the tool of choice when the hood is up.

If one is doing the Cylinder Contribution Test, you want Cylinder Rotational Velocity selected for each cylinder, plus the Engine Oil Temperature. I always record when I conduct a CCT, so I have a reference for the next time. If the question was what to monitor when first looking for trouble, here's the list:

Hey Tugly and thanks for the reply.

I agree, getting the software to work is the basic. Now that I think about it I probably didn't convey it correctly.

What I was looking to do is get base line data captured to compare with in the future if I run into any issue or change any parts. I do understand that the data is relevant as long as everything is working properly now.

For example,
( Group specific PID's together to get the most out of the data)

1. Cold engine start ( Engine has sat over night) data logging.
PID's A. Engine temp
B. Engine coolant temp
C. RPM
D. ICP
E. Mass fuel desired.

So basically I was looking for a good list of groupings like the example above.

I was thinking that if we could develop a list of the PIDs to trend together that when people post their data with questions, we can then compare. Of course this will only work if we have similar setups. Maybe I'm totally off base here but thats kinda what I was thinking.

Again thanks for all the help you put into AE.

I'm sorry to hear about your health woes. That sounds painful - I've already had my share of broken bones on my body, and I wouldn't want a piece of that.

Broken pelvis??? What the heck??? Scott, when did this happen? That is one of those, every time I hear it, it makes me cringe. As a chiropractor, the importance of a balanced pelvis can not be overstated in relation to spinal health. Breaking one and the subsequent healing can wreak havoc. Good luck with the recovery. To the OP- Sorry for the thread hi-jack. Back to your regularly scheduled AE talk.

Most definitely thread hijack! It happened last summer, I fell 14ft off the top of a semi tarping a load in the rain. Landed in front of the trailer behind the cab on the catwalk. Landed on my left pelvis bounced of that onto a concrete pathway cracking my S4 vertebrae. The worst is all the nerve damage that may never come back. Was bed redden way to long and thats when I stumbled onto this site. You guys gave me something to look forward to doing, and I am much appreciated into meeting each and everyone of you guys, It's like having a new family that can relate to our beloved 7.3!
