I don't know what happened to the thread I just tried to start but here we go again. I keep replacing slave cylinders every 7 to 8 months and I am tired of it. I know that it is in part due to the fact that I am buying quality chinda made cylinders from autozone and they never think twice about giving me a new one but this time when the cylinder failed the truck took off and I almost smashed my new garage. any suggestions as to where to get a good one that will last? everywhere I go they all look the same but I have to believe someone still makes a good cylinder somewhere
The bad thing is it says made in the USA. I got one off of I think a 91 idi. It is bigger and has a bleeder screw. Found it searching one day in an old thread pontiacross posted.
I just put it in a couple thousand ago and it seems to be doing good so far. Ill see if I can find it.
Hmm.. i think i got mine at napa yrs ago,no trouble since... iirc you can get entire pre-bled slaves from ford i believe? Are you getting just the typical slave you bleed yourself?

thanks alot, one with a bleeder screw would be awesome and willaim I will check with ed and see if can he has any slave cylinders
I'd say the one I took off today was probably the original one then. 163k on the clock. The previous owner said it had a new clutch in it, but I had to shove on the pedal as hard as I could to get it in rev or first. I pulled the inspection cover off the bellhousing the other day and it still has the DM flywheel. Replacing the slave helped with the issue I was having, goes in gears ok now, but if you think about letting out on the pedal she starts to move. When I save enough for the Valair, I'm puuting everything new, including the slave......from Ford.
The clutch hydraulics on my truck are off of an IDI, and I have a bleed screw. I don't know if that helps anybody, but that's all I have to offer on this one.
after some research I decided to buy one for a 91. it dropped right in with no problem and it changed how the clutch feels quite a bit. it doesn't feel nearly as stiff although it does catch a little closer to the floor but overall I would call it an inprovement, and with the bleeder screw it was a breeze to get all the air out. thanks to everyone for all your help
