1974 f100, Hey I have a few of the filters you need (D1AZ-9A011-A) lying around that I would give to ya if you cover the shipping cost...? SHould be but a few dollars I would guess. Yes, these are new. We use to make them for Ford back in the day.

Spend the 70 bucks and get a brand new sending unit with a float upgrade from dennis carpenter. One less thing to worry about.

He already put it back together guys.
Just so you know 74f100 we all have gone through the pain of the hoses.
And we almost all go through the fill up blues. Especially here in Ca.
Admire your "can do" attitude.
The lines to pump are 3/8.
Can't remember what the canister line is.

The line that goes from the tank to the charcoal canister is 5/16"

OK. I think the saga is over. I went to my local auto parts store and spoke to the oldest guy there. We ended up with a plastic connecting nipple to extend the hose already on the check valve. Gave me another half inch. I was just able to get a hose clamp on it for a tight connection. That gave me enough room to connect another 1/4 hose on the metal nipple, cut the hose to fit and connect it to the other end of the connecting nipple.

A 5/16 hose probable would have been easier, but they didn't have a 5/16 to 1/4 reducing nipple so I was committed to 1/4. The 1/4 hose sure looked to be a good fit to the check valve.

In any event I threw in 15 gallons at the local station and no leaks and it swallowed it all. I would be pleased if another member with the same issue read this thread and found this info helped him do it better than me.

Thanks to all your input. It did help....Regards...
