Are there any differences between these two sending units....part #D3TZ-9275-E and part #D7TZ-9275-G the only difference I can see is the former has a grounding stud and the latter does not (it gets grounded thru a mounting bolt).
The reproduction sending units that replace the above units list it as compatible from '61 to '77 so other than the grounding stud are there any differences between the two?

TWO different sending units for TWO totally different types of fuel tanks!
D3TZ-9275-E (replaced B8T-9275-A) .. Fuel Tank Sending Unit - Use with 18 or 30 Gallon left outside of frame mounted tank / Marked: D3TF-9275-EA or EB / Obsolete
1957/77 P100/500 Parcel Delivery / 1957/72 F500/900 / 1961/66 F100/350 Open Drive-Away Chassis & Cowl and Cowl & Windshield / 1973/79 F500/750.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- D7TZ-9275-G (replaced C1TZ-9275-K) .. Fuel Tank Sending Unit-Use with In-Cab Fuel Tank / Obsolete
Will that sending unit directly replace the D7TZ-9275-G unit?
Mac's applications are flawed. Ford replaced the original 1961/76 in-cab tank sending unit part number (C1TZ-9275-K) in 1977 with D7TZ-9275-G
1961/69 In-Cab tank contained 18 gallons. Ford replaced it with the 19 1/2 gallon tank used on 1970/72 F100/750's for use as a "service part replacement."
Ford changed the tank, but used the same sending unit that was also used on 1973/77's.
So if I am understanding this correctly MAC's sending unit will work but the fuel gauge reading will probably be slightly off because the sending unit is intended for the 18gal tank and not the 19.5gal tank, do I have that correct?
If that's the case I can live with that, or even adjust the float height as suggested. I just need a general idea of how much gas is in the tank lol and MAC's is the only place I have found a sending unit for the in-cab tanks.

Mac's gives an alternate part number (C1TZ-9275-KR) but, due to the R, this is a "made-up" part number. Original Ford part number: C1TZ-9275-K
Mac's says 1961/77 with 18 gallon tank only, but this is impossible. 1970/77 in-cab tanks contain 19 1/2 gallons, and...
You may find a 19 1/2 gallon tank in a 1961/69, because Ford replaced the original 1961/69 18 gallon tank in 1970 with D0TZ-9002-A (reproduced).
I am hesitant to buy the MAC's sending unit after already buying the wrong sending unit from Dennis Carpenter, but I need something even if it's not 100% accurate. With only a 19gal tank and only getting 8mpg it's somewhat important to know my fuel level lol.
I would much prefer an OEM replacement, the same D7TZ-9275-G sending unit that came in the truck. You (NumberDummy) stated this part is obsolete but can you tell me if any are available thru the parts locator system? Thanks.
Mac's doesn't make the sender, they are a reseller.
The reproduction senders for the in-cab tanks work fine and seems to be the exact same one that everybody sells, all the usual suspects, like say Carpenter and Drakes and everybody else. Depending on the price of NOS you may balk, I dunno, but don't worry about using a reproduction sender from a suitability standpoint.
There is a set screw on the float arm where it attaches to the sender itself on these as well, that can be adjusted to calibrate the gauge indication. It doesn't take much of an adjustment to make a large change, they are touchy, but can get it very accurate if desired.
I appreciate that info Tedster9. If the NOS price is too ridiculous I am just going to go with the MAC's unit. I already lost $20 on returning the Dennis Carpenter unit (not a very customer friendly return policy), so I am not looking to spend much more than MAC's $45 price.
If NOS or Green wants less than 100 bucks, I'll be surprised.
I will too. I just searched D7TZ-9275-G on ebay and there are two NOS sending units currently listed, one for $125 and another for $130 (and this one has been used!).

Here is the original part number, I'll betcha one of the sources will be cheaper than the above, Green and etc.
C1TZ-9275-K =
NOS PARTS SOURCE has 1.
CARPENTER NOS OBSOLETE PARTS in Concord NC has 3,575 (!) = 800-476-9653.
Carpenter "made a deal" with FoMoCo, can buy parts from them they've obsoleted. I wonder how many Carpenter bought originally?
I also wonder if Mac's is buying these from Carpenter? Why reproduce something, when there's a huge truck load of NOS available.
