The AGR units seem to have been used as upgrades for our stock pumps. Also, it seems to be good to convert to a remote reservoir tank, but that gets complicated.
I'll ask a question I have been wondering about … how is the little radiator for the power steering fluid supposed to be attached to the bigger radiator behind it? Mine is hung on there with several zip ties, at this ****-eyed angle. Looks just totally McGuyver, but has been that way since I bought it. Always fixing other stuff, cuz even though the truck can wander around the road like I'm drunk at times, a bit of steering wander and whine doesn't keep me from going down the road, or meeting payroll on Friday.
But I want to re-do the whole system with a Redhead gear, and a better set-up for the PS fluid. Someday…...
Thanks for this link Ed. Interesting read. I too am very interested in upgrading my PS/Brake pump as mine just pooched and if I'm going to spend the money, might as well upgrade as I go.
To second Ed's question, any one try either the PSC system with the Saginaw P-Series pump and larger reservoir with baffles or another alternative that worked successfully for you? ~ Bugjr ~
Bugjr I had researched this subject a couple years ago but didn't pull the trigger due to lack real world customer feed back and the fact that my PSD p/s pump works fine. It just drives me nuts listening to it. But like you when it does start to go out I want to have a plan in place and know what part# and cost will be. I have yet to read the treads Pete posted but I will soon.
Now I see you have a '92 E350 motorhome and was wondering what pump you have in it? because I have a '76 E350 460 motorhome and I do believe it has the old school Ford Saginaw pump set up. I have never had any issues with the old motorhome p/s ever being as noisey as my '99F350. at slow speed the old motorhome steers without any groans or moans.

You're referring to the transmission oil cooler. It sounds like the previous owner may have upgraded to a larger unit (either an aftermarket unit or a larger 6.0L PSD cooler). It's not necessarily uncommon for guys to install the larger tranny cooler with zip ties as opposed to making some alternate hard-mount brackets for a more permanent attachment.

I have no clue what pump is in it and like yours, it runs noise and trouble free. In fact, my RV has been relatively trouble free since we bought it in 2005 so I rarely have to stick my head under the hood. I can take a look this weekend and post up if I can figure out what kind of pump it is.
